Interview with Lizett Gonzalez

1.       How long have you live here?

I have been in us for 16 years

2.       If you’re not a native of New York, where did you live before?

In Venezuela, my country                                           

3.       Where did you go to college? What kind of student were you in high school? What were you? Favorite classes? What sport and extracurricular activities did you do? My high school was in Venezuela in 1987, I graduate in bachelor in science, my grades mostly Bs, and my favorite class was chemistry, science and lab. The only sport they allowed us to play was volleyball because we were girls.

4.       Did you go to college? Graduate school? If so, where? For how long? What degrees you earn? Are you interesting in going back to school? Yes for two years, here and in Venezuela. In Venezuela I get asistente de contabilidat.im actually in school right now, I’m getting my license

5.       How did you choose your current occupation?

I work as a part time volunteer in Aid for Aids for seven years and last year they hired me fulltime.

6.       What steps did you take to get this job? How did you learn about it? How many interviews did you have? Was hiring process difficult or not difficult? If a person were looking for a job in your company, what advice would you offer?

I learned a lot about HIV first I went to the city to get my license about HIV and then I went to work in different department. I had 2 interviews. Learning English was the most difficult process for me. They would find an opportunity to learn about the ministration to know our mission.

7.       How long have you worked here? Have you worked in different capacities at this job? What jobs at this company have you done in addition to the one you do now?

I worked here for seven years, I just work in administration dept.

8.       What is your job title and what are the three tasks or responsibilities you do most often?

My job title is administrative assistant. I’m the person in charge of payment for bendors and pay Rolland I care about the supplies, the needs of the office, answer the phone, receive mails etc

9.       Who is your direct supervisor and what is her/his job title? How much do you interact with her/him on a weekly basis? My direct supervisor is Jesus Aguais and he’s the executive director. I interact with him by person, email and text.

10.   What are two examples of challenges you face working there?

Two examples of challenges I faced are empowerment and secure.

11.   What is the best part of your job?

The best part is the responsibility of payments, we walk on Aid for Aids walk and gay pray and the big gala.

12.   What is something you would like to change about your job?

No much to change I like what I do, I like my job

13.   Did you work somewhere else before this job? Where? From how long? How is that job similar or different?

It was way different it was in a beauty salon for 5 years I was manager of the salon.

14.   What do you see as you future at this company? If you plan on changing job, what will you do?

Ohm sees me here for long time. Be a mother again can only take me of this job

15.   How do you hope a high school intern (such as myself) getting ready for college?

I hope that my intern know about how I run my office and have enough time to see what we do in this organization.

16.   What advice would you give to teenage intern (such as myself) getting ready for college?

The only advice is to find out what you really want as a profession

17.   What advice would you give to teenage intern (such as myself) preparing to find a career?

Don’t choose a career that they don’t like, choose something you passionate about. To be sure they can take a test to see what’s your strength and weakness and to see in what they good at doing

Internship week "first impression"

My supervisor first and last name is Lizett Gonzalez her official job title is administrative assistant.

Lizett Gonzales she have a different office not that small really comfortable. My supervisor characteristics, she’s kind, she cares about others, she’s helpful, she’s lovable, and she’s optimistic and understandable. I like the environment of my internship everybody speak Spanish even through I don’t speak Spanish with them but I feel that my Spanish will improve. When I walk outside I see a tiny building but the moment I step in my point of view change because the peoples who work in it always receive me with big smile and open arms. I love the neighborhood people walking up and down with a smile on their faces. And what I like the most is the shops that they have witch are forever 21, h&m, channel, babe and etc. in the office everybody are busy working or having meetings but at the mean time we would stop for 3 min and have a laugh by making some jokes. Beside my supervisor are her boss, coworkers and the boss daughter who come every Monday to help her dad and we cant forget about my supervisor little daughter who spend the afternoon with us. So far my duties were to put data’s in the computer and archived papers and help my supervisor in other things. Well I volunteer in Aid for Aids on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 5:00. I would encourage others to volunteer in Aids for Aids because they really nice person and they ready to share their experiences with us.
