Thank You Letter

 06/04/2012

Dear Lizette,

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you so much for being such a great mentor. I enjoyed working with you at Aid for Aids, an organization that is not only a job but a place that helps our community. Aid for Aids is a big family and I am really grateful to be part of that family. You helped me to believe in myself by giving me good advice and you were always there when I didn’t understand something. You’re a good administrative manager and you always made sure the office is not missing anything.

From you a learned how to be organized and confident in what I’m doing. Thanks for being more than a mentor but also a good friend. I am also thankful to Leonardo and Carlos for teaching me all of those great things about medicines. The best thing about my internship is that the workers interact as a big family.  Thanks for hosting me and all other students who have volunteered in this awesome organization. The most important skill I learned was how to create files and how to run a business. I am proud of interning with you at Aid for Aids. I know that all those amazing experiences will open a door for me in the future. I will miss you a lot, take care and may God bless you.

With Appreciation,

Midpiont Reflection

The primary mission of my organization is to help people from all over the world, we serve our people our family no matter were they come from Aid for Aids is an international organization. If Aid for Aids weren’t exists lot of people would die because they don’t have money to provide HIV medicines. I always wanted to intern in something that has medicine and people and I receive all of that and more, what I didn’t expect is that because I heard it as a office I thought it will be bored but that was out of my expectation it wasn’t bored at all I enjoy it. The difference between my internship and IHSL is that IHSL have students from all over the world and my internship is only Spanish people but what they have similar is that both have an great environment and both respect each other.
My number 1 new skills I earned is to be confident because my supervisor Lizette Gonzales always push me to go talk to people and to be confident in what ever I’m doing and that a big gift because I can use it everywhere and I’m sure that will open doors for me in the future. I have a close relationship with my mentor and co-workers we always having fun and they always make sure if I need help or if they can help me with something. I feel that I grown a lot, interacting with professional adults make me inspire them and give support to keep study and have a career it make me think woaw I cant wait me in my office one day and helping my intern. I believe my English and Spanish had improve during my internship weeks because I had to help clients and my mentor and co-workers help me a lot and they also give me an extra Spanish lessons. I learned how to run a business and how to identify a medicines know I can help my mom with her medicines. My challenge is that I was really shy and I was scare to do my tasks but I said to my self I cant let fears control me I have to control it and I think that my mentor hired me that I’m really working with them that I have to give my best and so I did. The altered internship schedule affected me a lot because I be getting tired and plus I have homework to do. Sometime I stay up late do finish my works. For the next five weeks when my supervisor gives me break I’m going to start my assignments to raise my grades. My goal for the next 5 weeks are to give the best me I want to show them that I’m a hard worker. What I learn about New York City is that it has a lot of opportunities we just have to get out and find them.

I choose this image because it really shows how my intern ship is we work at the same time we have fun and we see each other as a family.
